Upgrade Home to Professional

Windows XP Home promoted to Professional
This is great! Finally people can all use the good feature of Windows XP Pro even if they only bought Home. Home is really a major pain. I have seen a few products that refuse to work properly on the Home version. But now, by following the instructions you can "Patch" XP Home to be almost as good.
Nice work!
OCZ Powerstream 520 Dud
In September 2005 I decided to upgrade my current computer to a AMD64, PCI-Express based system. I bought the following items.
XpertVision - EV-7800GT
OCZ Technology - OCZ520ADJ
DFI - UTNF4SLI-D
AMD - ADA3000DAA4BW
OCZ Technology - OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K
All worked fine together, the cheap AMD64 didn't overclock very well because I think the low end chips have dodgy memory controllers. But still I managed to get the 1.8Ghz chip running at 2.3Ghz stable.
Now my problem is the OCZ power supply. I turned the computer on, well I tried to and no go. I left the unit for a while and tried to Jumpstart the power supply with no success.
So I emailed the place I bought it from and they told me to return it. I asked if I could get a replacement unit because I needed my computer. They said that currently there are no OCZ Powersteam 520 power supplies in Australia and it doesn't look like the distributor will get any more. Most likely I will end up getting store credit.
X-Trail Clock and spare fuse
Well after just buying my new X-Trail I found a problem. Every time I turned the ignition off the clock lost its time and the trip meters reset to zero. I mentioned this in my last blog entry and I linked to the entry in the Australian X-Trail forums.
I was promptly pointed to here:
One of the posts says:
In the top row in the left hand top
corner, there is an empty fuse called "ELECTRONIC PARTS BATT 10A". The
clock trip meter problem is now solved. This applies to a 2005 TI model.
So I found the fuse in the ash tray, installed it and now its all ok.
My Nissan dealer had forgotten to install the fuse. It is obviously removed to prevent the battery from draining.
